The Checklist

Room by Room Photo Prep Guide

Go through each room before your photographer arrives. The more prepared your home is the better your photos will look — and better photos mean more buyers and higher offers.

🏡

Outside

  • Remove all vehicles from driveways
  • Remove children's toys and garden equipment
  • Sweep driveways, sidewalks and patios
  • Trim shrubbery and mow the lawn
  • Remove all trash and recycling cans from view

Living Areas

  • Remove personal items — family photos, knick knacks
  • Remove clutter and straighten shelves and tables
  • Move excess furniture out of rooms
  • Hide TV remotes and clear away newspapers
  • Keep space clean, open and clutter free

Kitchen

  • Clear off countertops and remove small appliances
  • Remove photos, notes and magnets from refrigerator
  • Clean major appliances — refrigerator, oven, range hood
  • Make sure dishes are out of the sink and put away
  • Remove trash can, floor rugs and dish towels

Bedrooms

  • Make sure all beds are made and wrinkle free
  • Clear all dressers and bedside tables
  • Hang clothes neatly or fold and put away
  • Remove personal items from nightstands
  • Keep floors clear and clutter free

  • Toilet seats down and lid closed
  • Remove all cleaning products from view
  • Clean mirrors and glass surfaces
  • Make sure all towels match and are neatly folded
  • Remove trash cans and floor rugs

  • Clean out as much clutter as possible
  • Open all curtains and blinds
  • Vacuum all carpets
  • Make sure all light bulbs are working
  • Turn all lights ON
